his game is a classic for a reason. It has a pace of play that’s very rare these days and level design that stands out even after all these years. The graphics definitely benefit from being viewed through nostalgia’s rose coloured glasses but the original midi soundtrack still kicks ass. Movement is excellent, as fast as the gameplay is you’re always in perfect control without the inertia and momentum that modern games use to give a feeling of weight which makes zooming around levels blasting bad guys and searching for secrets feel effortless, your character reacts as fast as you think. It all comes together to form a game that is just good plain fun and still very much worth playing today. I would recommend unbinding “x” from the default aim and volte-face keyboard bindings before starting the game. Mouselook stopped working correctly for me after accidentally hitting this key. Restarting the game, resetting the default bindings and lots of fiddling with the freelook options didn’t immediately fix the issue, but things began working properly again upon finishing the current level and loading the next. I’m not sure how common this bug is but I’d recommend unbinding the key as a precautionary measure.
