But when I played this? I could feel the *love* for this series in every little detail. What bills itself as a “remake” is actually a full revamp of the entire game’s level design, fixing a lot of frustrating spots without sanding over the raw challenge of the original. All-new powers based on the original series make the gameplay more frantic, throwing experienced players new tools to get a hang of. I was afraid the checkpoints would make the game too easy, but the new levels take advantage of them and place them in perfect positions to take the edge off of the frustration, rather than dilute the difficulty. Even the bosses are revamped in a way that made appreciate them way more (but you won’t get spoilers from me!). All told, this makes Runner a FAR better experience from start to finish, one that kept me invested the whole way through!
