The Raid on Taihoku (also known as the Taihoku Air Raid) was a bombing raid carried out by the United States Army Air Forces on the city of Taihoku (now known as Taipei) in Japanese-occupied Taiwan during World War II. The raid occurred on May 31, 1945, and was part of the larger Allied campaign to neutralize Japanese military and industrial targets in the Pacific. The raid involved a total of 96 B-24 Liberator bombers, which dropped approximately 3,800 bombs on the city. The bombing caused widespread damage to buildings, homes, and infrastructure, and resulted in the deaths of an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 people, many of whom were civilians.

In 1995, on the 50th anniversary of the raid, the Taiwan government held a commemoration ceremony to honor the victims and express condolences to their families. Today, the Taihoku Air Raid is remembered as a tragic event in the history of Taiwan and is often cited as an example of the devastating impact of war on civilian populations.
