Sadly, I cannot recommend buying this enhanced edition; at least not until a proper patch is released. I have encountered numerous game-breaking bugs that would not let me advance further in the story and the game has locked my keyboard and mouse multiple times, this forced me to restart my computer to get back to my desktop and play the game. It’s nice to see that Nightdive is aware of these issues and has at least added the ability to run the classic version when you start up Steam. (It’s running in ScummVM, which improves the visuals and stability of the game somewhat). This is a good start for people like me who bought the game and are no longer eligible for a refund, but if you haven’t bought the game, I would recommend not purchasing this until a patch that fixes the issues with the enhanced version comes out. Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition ?

Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition has managed to ruin the unique aesthetic and feel of the original largely thanks to an inaccurate AI-upscaling method and some questionable design choices. To be honest, the only ‘upgrade’ in the remaster over the original is the addition of cutscenes and controller support. The decision to de-list the original from GOG was also a crappy move. But, as an apology, Nightdive is giving away the original, titled Blade Runner Classic when you purchase the Enhanced Edition on Steam. But, if the only selling point of your remaster is the ability to play the unaltered version, then what’s the point of remastering it in the first place? That being said, Nightdive has a good record of patching their remasters until they’re in an acceptable state (reference: Blood: Fresh Supply). I’m surprised, Nightdive usually put a lot of work into their remakes but this is absolutely unacceptable. Within less than 15 minutes, I encountered clunky controls, bad visual changes and multiple bugs. How did you mess this up so much? I literally went to the options menu for a minute, clicked new game and encountered so much weird jank. Refunded and extremely disappointed that Nightdive thought it was acceptable to release in such a humiliating state. Edit: I know some will explain that you still get the original version for free with it. That’s not an excuse. They want 8 euro’s for the enhanced version, not 5 euros for the classical version. I am being sold the enhanced version and that is what I will review.   ✨ Buy From Official Steam Website
