I’ve played a little over a handful’s worth of wrestling games from different console gens, and this game has shades of WWF No Mercy, but it feels a bit more like WWF War Zone… which I’m not quite a fan of. Characters feel simultaneously stiff and loose, and I had a trouble getting a 3-count pin despite beating the life out of my opponent to the point where they couldn’t even get a hit off. I’m pretty sure you NEED to land a signature move to win by pin, and it’s a bit difficult to get your signature move ready.

These are issues that plague some wrestling games. I found the stuff outside matches to be fun, especially when a female clown(?) decided to be my tag team partner, but I just don’t like how the core gameplay feels to continue a season and see where my wrestler goes. In my short time playing, I had one match become unwinnable because it was a 4v4 tag team match where everyone stormed the ring and beat the life out of the referee, and another match lasted ~15 minutes because my opponent refused to get pinned. I won one match in ~30 seconds despite not knowing what I did right.
