Theseus Protocol is a deck building roguelike where rebirth offers strategic opportunity. Utilize a powerful suite of cards and weaponry to uncover the cruel truth behind the dystopian sci-fi world of Mark City. I’m always game for a roguelite card battler even if, in this case, character design that seemed to aim to please a weeb audience is not my cup of tea. But nevertheless I gave it a go. I was also willing to overlook bad translations, the all work in progress feel of it, after all it’s early access. But the mechanics in this game are awful (at least for me).

You get armor that is permanent at the start of a run but it is peeled off in the 1rst fight and never comes back. You got very few opportunities (card or items) to get it back. You got shields in fights, that ony last a turn to soak off direct damage but litteraly almost any foe will slap you with tons of dots that bypasses shields. Dumbest game decision ever. This is really killing the fun for me as a run in fact consist to be slowly killed by dots. I like the weapon skill tree as a mean of meta progression tough. I’ll probably revisit this one at release to see if they changed those rules regarding dots and improved the whole thing but for now it’s refund time …
