Sonic Generations is therefore a great game for young and old and alternates the classic 2D stages with a dash of 3D action. You also get through the adventure pretty quickly, but there are still plenty of Challenges waiting for you to stretch the replay value. During the adventure you will have to play with both Sonics. Each level has two stages, one for Classic Sonic and one for Modern Sonic. So mastering both Sonics is a must, as you’ll need to complete both stages to unlock the Challenges that will eventually unlock the final boss level again. The big difference between the two Sonics is mainly the way you play and the position of the camera. The 2D levels play quickly and smoothly and you run from left to right. Of course it’s not so black and white, because in the meantime you have to maintain as much speed as possible, regularly make big jumps, dodge enemies and even finish them if necessary. This is unfortunately not the case with the levels of modern 3D Sonic.
