This game is a love letter to 5th generation 3D platformers. It’s a short, cozy experience where no single aspect overstays its welcome. Generally the pacing is good, you move from small bouts of combat to platforming to puzzle solving/minigames and back quickly, and usually before you know it the level is over. This is a short game- you could probably beat it in 2-3 hours if you blast through it as quickly as possible. But in an era of derivative AAA games that last too long or are broken garbage, there’s something nice about throwing a small team $20 for something intentionally designed and to the point (even if gamers still think they should pay $30 for a game that gives them thousands of hours of gameplay). It’s also worth noting the team is VERY small. Almost everything was done by a single developer, with a few odds and ends outsourced. With this in mind it’s easier to excuse some of the “drawbacks”, which are all pretty small/nitpicky anyway. You can’t skip over dialogue bits upon replay, the audio mix in.
