Shoot, stab, burn, poison, tear, vaporise, or crush ragdolls. This game is for people who enjoy throwing around ragdolls but want it to be more detailed, satisfying, and feel more free while doing so. There’s more than enough space to play around in. And there’s more than enough to play with. Every object has a set of properties that describe how it interacts with anything in the world Some stuff is sharp You can stab people (and other soft objects) with sharp objects such as swords or spears. Some stuff conducts Many things conduct electricty, some do it better than others. Humans are very good at it too. When certain items are charged, they become a lot more powerful. Some stuff burns
Wood, rubber, plastic, and humans burn very well. Set them on fire and stare while it slowly turns black. Some stuff shoots The game contains a varied collection of projectile based weapons for you to play with. Some stuff explodes There’s different explosives that vary in destructive power as well as the manner in which they release their energy. Build stuffYou can build contraptions, usually death machines, to play around with. Often the very first thought about this game is a “murder simulator”. This is a 2D mechanics simulator whereas ONE of the many things you can do happens to be place a destructible human shape that bleeds.**Play style varies greatly!**I often find myself playing the game with time stopped to decal scenes and make unique realistic creations. The promo of this game parades it as a violent murder machine that never stops bleeding. I personally liken the experience to using image editing software. Except, instead of a flat 2D still image – the final product can hold classical mechanics. I didn’t just make a cloud. I made a cloud that floats, is very light weight and dissipates when struck. If you want to strap a human shaped rag doll to it with a rocket thruster welded to the back – knock yourself out!
A while back I discovered a physics simulator called “The Powder Toy”. The similarities are striking in PPGs infancy. I feel with some polish and elbow grease, People Playground can be at very least a spiritual successor to another very fun sandbox. People Playground itself has highs and lows. There are performance issues, however I’ve found that assembling contraptions efficiently and keeping detail uniform with the game’s style greatly increases performance. There’s also a customizable option to run in slow motion to allow more computing time – so a smooth result is available to lower GPUs.
