Monster Outbreak Free Download (v1.0.7)
The King’s dimensional orb has malfunctioned, bringing hordes of monsters into the Kingdom. Defend your safeground against the monsters by gathering resources, building defenses, upgrading your arsenal, and surviving long enough to find the source of monsters and destroy it. I just found myself feeling much more frustrated by the current controls and gameplay loop than I felt I was having fun or getting excited to grind out any new towers. The game is fairly easy to start, with no indication as to the differences in the difficulties, so you won’t find yourself dying, but you will be constantly repairing stuff. This game just doesn’t effectively blend tower defense and action combat in a way that I felt was something I wanted to play for the long haul. Maybe the game improves greatly after a few hours, but I don’t have the energy to grind my way into a game that is more enjoyable. Tower defense is already a slower-paced genre as a whole to begin with. I can’t personally recommend it right now for these reasons, but I know plenty of people will disagree with me. They may even hit me with a cheeky git gud, which will utterly emasculate me and destroy my whole existence. Either way, I really want to like this game, but it’s just too tedious at the moment. Especially when up against some competitors. Love the concept and art design though.

You can only cook one healing item at a time. Does it really make a difference if I heal to full health in one cooking cycle vs. four if I’m in the completely safe building stage? Why? You can only repair things one thing a time, and you have to hold the button down, then confirm the prompt and resources needed to repair. This super sucks, and immediately made me groan when I realized I would need to repair each and every single fence individually. Trust me, I know this sounds really minor and whiny, but it’s genuinely a massive pain, especially with enemies like the fire salamanders who have massive ranged AoE projectiles that can set you on fire for what feels like years. Not to mention this forces you to spread your defenses out much wider, meaning you’ll have significantly more fences to constantly repair. One. By. One Everything you build has a crafting time even in the building stages of the game with no enemies. Why? You can only build in the direction your character is facing, and only directly in front of your character. This makes placing fences and orienting your defenses feel very frustrating. This is made worse by only receiving half of the resources spent when you dismantle something. Following that up, please change your tool system or make an adjustment to how it functions during the combat stage. I have accidentally destroyed my own fences, more than the monsters have, because I forgot to switch off of the Axe. You have your harvesting tools and weapons on the same wheel and button. Again, why? You have a stamina wheel that acts as both your movement speed increase (sprint), and also as your resource for casting skills. The base movement speed without sprinting is a snail’s pace, but every time you attack while sprinting, you dash towards the direction you’re moving.
The Dimensional Orb was a promise of wealth and knowledge beyond humanity’s wildest dreams, hidden away from all until it was discovered and brought to the king. Being human, the king was easily tempted, and for a time the promise held true. Riches, knowledge, and incredible stories flowed into the Kingdom thanks to the Orb… but then came the monsters. Lots and lots of monsters. Monster Outbreak is a pixel top-down survival game. Take control of Yulia, the last surviving member of the Royal Guard, and confront the endless monster hordes spawned by the out-of-control Dimensional Orb. Gear up, prepare defenses, lay down traps, cook a possible last meal, and try to stay alive. Go at it alone – or enlist fellow survivors, using classic local split screen or online multiplayer. The last stand of the Royal Guard isn’t over – until it’s over.
- Yulia has access to a broad range of weapons to be enchanted, from simple swords and axes to sophisticated bows providing elemental attacks, dealing additional damage and opening new ways of containing the endless waves of enemies.
- Build up those defenses! Choose from dozens of turrets, including the bomb-javelin launcher, crossbow turret, and bomb slingshot to set up lethal defensive zones.
- Keep hordes of dimensional horrors at bay with a selection of traps to deploy including spike strips, tripwire bombs, and elemental traps.
- Each wave, eventually, peters out. Use the lull in combat to fix up the base – or venture out, explore, fix bridges, and scavenge the derelict Kingdom.
- Hunt down monsters for essential components to craft weapons and items to increase the chances of survival – but watch out for brutal bosses that can decide to crash your party at the worst possible moment.
