The quick and dirty: Hush Hush is more complex than a VN, and more involved than your average Dating Sim. The gameplay is reasonably complex, the art is great, the writing is great, the voice talent is the best, and the story grows in a surprisingly deep way. If you want an involved story with some smut, give it a go. If you’re looking for the smut first, maybe still think about it. But at the end of the day it’s still a Dating Sim, so if that’s not your interest, nothing about Hush Hush will change your mind. Also, the humor can sometimes be a bit too referential.

I’d like to specifically highlight the writing. Given that all the love interests started life as, essentially, one-dimensional tropes in a sexy clicker game, the writers have done an incredible job building on the foundation to give all those tropes purpose, and fleshing out the girls so that even things like their hair colors make sense. The story also doesn’t hang on the silly immature humor. As the story progresses, there are deeply emotional events, cutting drama, and even some horror, and situations I found myself legitimately uncomfortable with. Honestly, at a certain point the haha anime boobs thing stops being the primary draw. I was genuinely interested in the complex, interweaving story of these five women.
