The good: superb gameplay, interesting strategic choices, widely varied factions and heroes and maps for endless replayability, an AI that can play the game The downsides: Lots of information needed to make strategic choices is either inconvenient to find, or totally unavailable. Some hero skills are well defined, others not at all. And the UI has some VERY rough edges Also to consider: The strategic map looks so much like Heroes of Might and Magic 3 that a lot of gamers are frustrated to find that the strategies here are quite dramatically different. So much of this game is about very specialized hero skills. And until you figure out the significance of the Bodyguard skill, you are going to have a tough time. (And, related to the downsides, the game is a bit murky on acquiring heroes with many levels of Bodyguard. The trick is to hire a hero apparently having zero levels of Bodyguard from an upgraded Tavern, several weeks into the game.) Also to consider: The strategic map looks so much like Heroes of Might and Magic 3 that a lot of gamers are frustrated to find that the strategies here are quite dramatically different.

Hero’s Hour ?

Fantastically little game, you can sink a lot of hours into it. It’s not perfect but it has a lot of potential, and it’s still fun in it’s current state. The Good: Super fun, surprisingly complex game, with lots and lots of different builds and strategies. You can spend many hours learning and mastering each faction. The auto-battler is such a great way to improve on the original HoMM series by speeding up the slowest aspect of it, while still keeping it fun and interactive through unit commands and spells. You can use Steam’s “Remote Play” feature to team up with your friends and work together to take over the map.The Bad: Lots of balance issues, but the devs are listening to players and adjusting accordingly. Combat is currently very swarm-based, and having the largest snowball is usually the best strategy.
