The SP system can be tedious at times, but the variety from being affected by certain attacks and statuses, as well as overcharging, keeps the battles entertaining. Your party earns experience even after fainting. Such a small change from Pokemon, but I would say it’s objectively better than having to lose out on experience, especially since it saves me from an annoyance Pokemon has stuck with for decades.
