You play as Madeline, set out to climb a mountain. Why? That is something she doesn’t know herself at first, beside the feeling that she wants to do it. It’s a journey about emotions, friendship, mental struggles and finding yourself. I don’t want to spoil anything more, since the Story is a key part of Celeste, and is best to discovered by yourself. Celeste plays like you would expect a more classic, tight platformer to play. While the game is very hard, it’s never unfair. You will die, a lot, and possible a bit more even. But it becomes rarely frustrating, since you never lose any progress. The game always places you right back before the current challenge, you blink once and you are already on your next try back in the action. Graphic and Audio You have to like the art style of Celeste but it mixes really well with the platforming and helps with keeping an overview on the current objective. The cutscenes and character portraits are drawn and absolutely lovely in my opinion. Same goes for the Audio design of the game, I can’t say anything bad about it

Celeste ?

The easiest way to describe Celeste would probably be to call it a very hard platformer with a charming pixel art style, but at heart, it’s so much more. It’s a challenging journey following a lovely heroine. As we overcome the struggles of the challenges ahead of us, so does she overcome her own challenges and struggles, she deals with in her life. If you’re in it for the story, then there’s a guaranteed heartfelt tale of personal growth and overcoming your own demons. The destination is established early on purely to setup the journey, a journey through which you’ll come across a charming roster of colourful characters with interactions reminiscent of Animal Crossing (you’ll know it when you hear it). The pixel art is crisp, it’s all nicely animated with super tight and responsive controls perfect for precision platforming. It’s a wholesome super meat boy. It motivates you to keep going and to not give up, with ‘you can do it’ and ‘just breathe’ being lines used interchangeably and for good reason. There’s a beautiful soundtrack here that amps up when it needs to. Periodically it goes all chiptune/8bit which adds charm to the overall aesthetic. Buy From Official Steam Website
